Hello Kitty Bedcover & Pillows

My niece just turn 7 last July. If people ask what kind of gifts she wanted for her birthday, she will say something with Hello Kitty themes. Meanwhile she ask me something for her barbie just like last year. It took me 2 months to finished up the request because I still have no idea what to make. And then I remember that she had barbie's bed but hasn't had bedcover. So I decided to make bedcover and matching pillows.

At first I was thinking to make bedcover with fabric I have at home but then it cross my mind to matched barbie's bed set with hers. She plan to decor her room with Hello Kitty themes. So I decided to make Hello Kitty theme bedcover and pillows.

It took me 2 hours to work on it but it took me forever to find Hello Kitty theme fabrics. Finally I found a fabric that could work nicely as bedcover and pillows with small enough Hello Kitty on it. The fabric is the one you used to wrap a newborn baby. So the fabric almost feel like felt, smooth and soft but not as thick as felt.

Since my niece had a pull out bed, I make 2 bedcovers and 4 pillows. I also make one Hello Kitty face pillow from felt as decorative pillow.

Yogurette Table

This table made out of yogurette box. It's a chocolate box. I didn't paint or cover it because it already had a nice picture. For the leg I used wooden clothes pins and wooden hand-fan that broken. I glue the leg to the box and then glue the fan. Put your stuff on top of it such as books, pencils, etc. Pair it with chair and your table ready to use.

Wooden Leg Stool

Another inspiration I got from My Froggy Stuff. Yeah sure, she's really creative and plenty of idea. This time I use a water gallon cap for the seat part and chopsticks for the leg. It's not easy to find wooden dowel here in Jakarta. So I have to be creative just like froggy mama. With old fabric and glue gun, the stool turn out pretty nice.

No Sew, No Glue Chair

Still inspired by My Froggy Stuff. I'm using Pringles canister and old t-shirt. It turn out pretty nice for my 11,5 inches doll :)

Chair

Inspired by My Froggy Stuff, I was planning to make the chair. Fortunately my sister brought ice cream from her office. So after eating ice cream, I told everyone to collect the stick. So far I got 6 sticks. So I only able to make one chair. This chair is quite easy to make but a bit tricky with the legs. One of the chair leg keep sticking out. Well, there's nothing perfect in this life :)

Purple Sofa

This is the third sofa I make. I use felt to cover the sofa. This time I make it differently from before. This time I cover all the cardboard and sew it with sewing machine. To joint all part I also sew it together. This is quite similar with my first sofa. I also add decoration pillows with lighter color than the sofa with pink accent.

Cardboard Drawer

This drawer also one thing I made for my niece. Instead of making the one that look like a drawer, I decided to make real drawer so she can keep something inside of it. The surface covered with duct tape and I used beads for the handle. Instead of gluing the beads, I used wire to fix it.

Sofa & Small Pillows

This sofa was made for my niece. She's keep asking when I will make her something else. So in one day, I ended up making sofa, drawer, books, bed and pillows. Tutorial how to make this can be found in this blog.

Remake of the Desk Lamp

Before

After

The first picture was a desk lamp I made for my niece. But after sometimes, the things start to falling apart. So I bring it home and remake the lamp.

I change the lamp cap with scrap-booking paper. I drew two circle and cut on bigger circle. After that I make 8 vertical line connecting smaller & bigger circle and cut it. It will make it easier to bend the paper. Glue them until it form a bucket and the rest was the same with instruction on this blog. As an accent I use small ribbon.

This is what my birthday gift for my lovely niece. I promised her barbie's dresses for her birthday when I got back from Geneva. Besides dresses, I make her a set of walking closet. One dresses closet with 9 dresses inside, necklaces, one shoes rack including the shoes, one coffee table with desk lamp and one bean bag. The gift exclude my barbie because she had 9 already :)

Bean Bag

I meant to make bean bag but instead of bean I put styrofoam that used to pack fruits. I got this idea from myfroggystuff's youtube video.

Dresses Closet (2)

This is my second dresses closet I make in one year. This time I use shoes box to make it. I covered it with used gift wrap and put a scrap paper mirror and door handle. I use pencil as the bar and pushpin to hang necklace or bag on the door. I also put accent on the top and bottom part of the door. As closet's foot I use 4 bottle's lids on the bottom. The idea was combination from my experience and this blog.

Shoes Rack

I've seen one of video in youtube that use plastic container as shoes rack. But instead of buying plastic container, I used cardboard to make it. I also put used gift wrap around the box as an accent.

Desk Lamp

The idea of this desk lamp I got from this blog

Coffee Table

I made this coffee table from small plastic cookies jar. I put material to cover the jar and glued it to the jar lid. As an accent I put small ribbon around the lid. The cookies jar itself can be used to put barbie's shoes or accessories. It will be multifunction furniture.

Round Chair

It’s easy to make a round chair for Barbie. You can used any container that have tube shape. For me, I used pringles container. Measured up from Barbie’s rear to the base with Barbie in sitting position. For Barbie Fashionista the measurement around 6-7 cm. Measured 7 cm from the bottom of container and make a mark/line for cutting. After you cut the container according the mark then cover the container with any kind material you have (colorful sheet, contact paper, or else). I use paper towel to cover the container. If you like, you can add puffy material so you can have cushion for your chair.
This chair can be use with Barbie's dressing table.

Dresses Closet

After having a few dresses, then you need a closet to put the dresses and keep it from the dust.
Using shoe box will be easier to make the closet. But the one I use was a helmet box and not square shape. So I have to measure up to make the shape like a closet. With glue, wire, and straw, I finally be able to make the closet.
Besides closet, I also make clothes hanger from wire. I found out how to make the hanger from this blog. You can found a lot of thing in that blog.

Sofa

After looking at this creative blog and watching their video about making sofa for doll, I decided to make the one for Steffi. I made the sofa using white felt, cardboard and some stuffing, I also make a pillow to put in sofa.
